Electronic Poker is a popular game that is able to be enjoyed in casinos throughout the world, or in your house on your personal computer, using a net account. The regulations are absolutely simple and consist of the player trying to achieve the highest assemblage of cards achievable in order to win money. On this account it’s very similar as a classic game of poker, minus the interaction with any other players. Of course, techniques used in a physical game of poker, like tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.

The game of Video Poker begins when the gambler puts credits (whether it’s tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and pushes the deal button. A hand of 5 cards will then be "distributed" on the video screen.

The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and players will need to now pick which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the bettor would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.

After the player has chosen which cards he wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any new cards are handed out if desired. The round is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the pay out schedule.

Generally, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the payment schedule can change from game to game, so that skillful bettors are able to pick the most money-making game every time.

After the initial round has played out, the player can either choose to stay on and try to to increase their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that might have been won. Additionally, a few versions of the game give the player an opportunity to double their wins, in which instance a further game is played. There are also variations between individual machines, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other differing elements to increase playability.
