Video Poker is a beloved game that usually will be wagered on in casinos all over the world, or alternatively at home on your personal computer, through an Internet connection. The game rules are absolutely straightforward and consist of the player attempting to achieve the highest combination of cards achievable in order to come away with money. In this respect it is much the same as a regular game of poker, minus the involvement with any other players. Of course, tactics used in a physical game of poker, like tricking, will be useless here.

The game of Electronic Poker begins when the enthusiast inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the video poker machine and presses the draw button. A five card hand will be electronically ‘distributed’ on the video screen.

The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and gamblers should now choose which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the gambler wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.

After the enthusiast has decided on which cards he or she wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards are handed out if desired. The game is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payout schedule.

Generally, the lowest succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the pay out schedule can range from game to game, so that experienced enthusiasts are agile enough to pick the most beneficial ones every instance.

Once the initial round has played out, the player can either decide to continue on and try to to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that might have been won. Additionally, a few styles of the game allow the gambler a chance to increase their profits, in which situation a further hand is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing characteristics to increase playability.
